 Experiment No. 2

Object 

      To determine the moment of Inertia of an inregular rigid body about an axis passing through its centre of gravity & perpendicular to its plane by dynamical method ( Inertia table ).

Apparatus Required  

                        Inertia table inregular body whose moment of inertia is to be determine , regular body whose moment of inertia can be calculated by majoring its dimenations & mass , stopwatch , sprit level physical balance with wait box & vernier calipers .

Formula Used

The moment of inertia I1 ( आई वन ) of the inregular body is determine with the help of following formula –

  • Where I2 ( I tow ) is moment of Inertia of the regular body 
  •   To is time period of inertia table .
  • T1 ( T one ) is time period with the inregular body on the inertia table .

If the regular body is disc then –


Where M is mass of the disc & R is radius of the disc.

Result –

            Moment of inertia of inregular body is 0.2490 kg/miter equare

Source of error & Precautions

1.      The inertia table should set horigental.

2.      The table should be rotted by a few degree only.

3.      Periodic time should be noted very carefully.

4.      There should not be any rink in the wire .

5.      There should not be any up & down as well as joo & fro motion of the table.
