Object
To determine the modulus of rigidity of wire by Maxwell ‘ s Nedle.
Apparatus Required .
Maxwell ‘ s Nodle , screwgauge , used wire meter scale stopwatch , physical valance & waitbox.
Used formula
The
modulus of rigidity of material of wire is given by –

l = the length of the experiment were .
L = the length of gross tube.
R = the radius of wire.
Mh = the mass of each follow cylinders.
Ms = the mass of each solid cylinder.
T1 = the time period when solid cylinder are placed in the middle.
T2 = the time period when hollow cylinder are placed in the middle.

Calculation .
Result
The
modulus of the rigidity of material of wire is 0.2704912086x10⁷ N/meter square
1. The wire should be fairely thin & long
2. It should be free from the pinks .
3. The wire should be twisted through a very small angle.
4. The motion of the nidle should be purely rotation & no portion of cylinder should project outwards.
